Professor Borgman has a Ph.D. in English from the University of Chicago), with
a focus on world and modern American literatures.
Borgman had done prior
graduate work in Philosophy (Masters of Arts). His ; his B.A. is
Borgman's teaching responsibilities in the department of English at Gordon
focus on modern and contemporary American literature, and courses in the Bible as Literature (an Introduction to the Bible as Literature course, and an advanced course on Biblical Narrative).
The latter have become his focus of
research and publication, resulting in three books:
the Story We Haven't Heard (IVP, 2001)
-- The Way According to Luke: Hearing the Whole Story of Luke-Acts (Eerdmans, 2006).
-- David, Saul, and God: Rediscovering An Ancient Masterpiece (Oxford University Press, 2008).
Borgman also offers an on-line course on the Bible as Literature through the Master of Arts program at Gordon.
