" Think. Why did great grandad leave?"
- The Fall, "Australians in Europe"
Jonathan P. Gerber received his Ph.D. from Macquarie University for research on interpersonal rejection, where he was mentored by Ladd Wheeler. His honors research was on meta-cognitive confidence under Joel Michell and Lazar Stankov. As such, Jonathan traces his intellectual heritage back to Leon Festinger, Raymond Cattell & John Maze.
Following this, Jonathan worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at The University of Sydney on a medical workforce tracking project designed to address doctor shortages in rural and outback Australia (www.medicaldeans.org/msod.htm). During this time, Jonathan worked with Louis I. Landau, AO, to implement a comprehensive research structure, including funding of smaller research projects.Jonathan is currently researching rejection, following up hypotheses developed in his meta-analysis of rejection studies. Meta-analytic research also continues, this time focussing on social comparison and self-esteem.
Jonathan works with both The Interdisciplinary Experimental Society (TIES) and the philosophical psychology lab at Gordon to mentor students in research skills.
