ECHO trip information
Thanks for considering going on the 2009 Spring Break trip to ECHO. This trip has been an annual event since the late 1980's. Each year a team of Gordon students led by one or two faculty members heads down to help them in whatever way is necessary. I have co-led the trip three times, in 2003, 2005 and 2007. In 2005, art professor Jim Zingarelli brought along a troop of his majors, and we spent our evenings making various art works (some examples below). This art was sold and raised money for the ECHO ministry.
In 2007, several students involved in video production, under the leadership of Gordon staff member Paul Rogati, created a DVD about ECHO. This year we're going to do a standard work trip, although you are welcome to use your free time to draw and photograph the beauty around us at ECHO and along the banks of the Caloosahatchee River, where we stay overnight..
Students interested in sustainable agriculture, world missions, or who just want to get a new experience in the Florida sunshine in the freezing month of March are welcome to apply. Please call me, Dr. Story or send email. If you don't know me, I am in the biology department. I can send you a letter which can help you raise the $400 required for the trip which includes all costs except a travel snacks/lunch here and there, and any souvenirs you may want to buy.
Below are a few photos and scans of artwork from the 2005 trip! I hope to hear from you soon! -Dr "Storyman" Craig Story
