2009 First Dandelion Contest Winner - Mark Wacomb Stevick, poet, creative writer, Gordon professor
April 7th, it was a chilly, breezy day following a rainy spell. I received this enthusiastic email from Mark at 4:06 PM:
"Dandelion outside of Jenks!
Anyone nab one yet?
I took a pic...
mark"
I wrote back that according to the rules, the winner is the first one to bring it to my office with a note when and where it was found. As you can see, he did do this, after his class and meeting with a student. Now that's dedication to his professorial duties.
Congratulations for being the first professor to win the contest. Enjoy the Thin Mints, and Springtime!
Honorable mention (but no cookies) to Autumn Brown, who a few days earlier found a dandelion at the Starbucks Campus in North Beverly, and tacked it to my door with a note. Nice try!
Delivering the prize! Envelope poetically reads "Plucked from the earth 2:45 Monday outside Jenks 237"
